Teaching Interests & Philosophy:

Race and Ethnicity, Women’s and Gender Studies, Digital Media and Popular Culture, Islamophobia and the Global War on Terror, Identity and Citizenship, Qualitative Research Methods.

As an educator, I teach courses on race and ethnicity, women's and gender studies, and sociological theory. Through my teaching, I seek to instill within my students an openness to experience, understanding, and empathy for others. My pedagogy is purposefully structured to uncover invisible intersections, provide clarity on privilege and oppression, and interrogate the operation of power at the individual and structural levels. Thus, I aim to provide my students with the theoretical and practical tools they need to create justice-oriented social change as humanistic global citizens.
